Oceano Breaks Ground in Roatan
Island of Roatan, Bay Islands
On the sandy, tranquil fringe of Roatan, work has begun to create Oceano Luxury Seaside Village, an enclave of island-waterfront homes surrounded by a tropical local village newly designed for sustainability and style. Overlooking a classically alluring lagoon and Caribe Bight - with its celebrated sunsets and crystal-water diving in the world's second largest barrier reef - Oceano Village is conceived and led by architect and developer Dan Jenkins.

The South Western Caribbean island of Roatan - within the Bay Islands - lies within easy reach from Houston, Miami, Atlanta, New York, Toronto and Milan through direct flights. A 25-minute drive from the Island airport, the village will rest among hilly tropical-fruit groves and feature beachfront walkways, white-sand beaches, tree-lined streets, community pools, shaded gardens, a marina, dive center, spa, health club, tennis courts, restaurants and cafes and a shopping gallery. In addition to a luxurious hotel and the oceanfront resort with private homes now available for purchase.

Property purchase options at Oceano Village will each include access to dense gardens and refreshing plunge pools. Architectural beauty, solid-concrete construction, and carefree interiors - featuring renewable tropical hardwood furnishings -- blend durability with timeless, elegant design.

Designed to inspire living in one of the most mysterious and alluring islands in the world, Oceano Luxury Seaside Village is certain to unite families, ignite couples and buoy spirits of those who long for eco-adventure or a restorative hideaway. All homes are built to allow for cooling through natural breezes and cross ventilation. The community will also collect rain water and mix it with carefully treated wastewater to provide irrigation. An information centre opens next month to help buyers choose their home away from home.

With early reservation incentives, current prices start at $189,900 USD for a beachfront studio condominium with custom oceanfront private residence beginning at $600,000 USD. Prices include furnishings and landscaping. Complete details and renderings can be seen at the Oceano Village website at www.oceanovillage.com.

Oceano President Dan Jenkins says, "More than a decade ago, I began an elusive trek searching for a mythical yet practical paradise to call home. Years later, a pretty, turquoise bay has been spotted and secured - temperate enough to forego a sweaters or air conditioning, accessible by air and equipped with modern telecom. Today we are delighted to announce that we are creating all that is needed to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle in this magnificent place. In addition to the charming village and exceptional location on an Island with a robust property market, homes will be elegant in an appropriately casual, tropical way."

Beautiful and classically proportioned architectural designed homes built totally from natural, lasting materials like local limestone and furnished with local hardwood and giant bamboo have tremendous aesthetic appeal. While, in practical terms, there is low property tax and a property management and maintenance service will be available for home owners' peace of mind. Occupancy is anticipated to commence in summer 2008.
